Opening & Mail Order

The nursery will be open from 10am to 4pm on Thurs 6th, Fri 7th and Sat 8th June. We will then be closed again until August due to show commitments.
All existing mail orders will be despatched this week. We will  not take further mail orders until after RHS Tatton Park as we are unable to despatch until after then. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Terms and conditions

We endeavor to keep our stock availability accurate as shown on our website however during busy periods some varieties will be sold out. As a matter of course we will substitute the nearest plant unless requested not to. Please let us know within 7 days if you find our substitute choice unacceptable.

The fact that we accept an order and payment does not guarantee that every plant will be available at the time of dispatch; occasionally plants may die or be damaged by adverse conditions. We would, of course, then refund any payments already made if we do not have a suitable substitute.

All photographs and information on the website are for purposes of guidance only. While we make every effort to post on the web-site photos which truly represent the plant, colour will not always be 100% true – in particular it is sometimes difficult to accurately represent different shades of red and violet.

Dispatch Policy

We dispatch orders weekly, dependent upon the season. You are entitled to cancel your order from the day of ordering until the date of dispatch.

Plants are dispatched via a courier and will not normally require a signature. Any special delivery instructions, such as for example, "Leave by side of house" etc should be entered in the "comments box".

Unfortunately, because of the nature of the goods, once we have dispatched your plants, under section 13, paragraph 1c of the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) regulation 2000, goods that are made to the consumer specifications or are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly means your statutory 7 working days cooling off period is void.

Before dispatch, plants are examined and packed with great care to ensure that they arrive in perfect condition. If your plants are not in good condition upon receipt because of damage or delay, please notify us immediately by telephone or letter (first class). Please include date of arrival of parcel so that we can make a claim. Please retain the box and contents so they are available for inspection, if necessary. Complaints cannot be entertained unless these conditions are adhered to. In due course the plants will be replaced free of charge.

Once the plants have been delivered safely the ownership has passed from us to the customer. We cannot be responsible for the health of plants when they are grown in conditions not under our control, although we are quite prepared to give advice on growing problems. Planting advice and cultural notes will be included with your order.

When you receive your order the plants are ready for immediate planting. However, if you are unable to plant immediately, put the pots outside in a shady position until you are ready to plant them in the garden.

Winter Plant Orders

Orders received after October will be dispatched usually February onwards or when the weather is suitable. Orders of Penstemon or mixed orders including Penstemon will not be dispatched until April or May dependent upon weather conditions. We will not send out Penstemon plants until they are ready for planting into the ground.

Payment by credit card or cheque.

Credit card payment will be taken from your account on receipt of your website order. Cheques (made payable to Green JJam Nurseries) will be banked on receipt of posted order. However please note depending on the time of year and weather conditions your order might take between 2 weeks and 4 weeks before dispatch. We are also unable to dispatch plants during the weeks that we are at a show and will therefore send these plants orders out in the weeks after a show finishes.
